Meet Ida, the transitional fossil. She’s 47 million-years-old, so right away that should bump Joan Rivers out of first place. According to Norweigan paleontologist Jorn Hurum: “This is the first link to all humans … truly a fossil that links world heritage,” Hurum said.
Ida has opposable big toes with nail-bearing tips on her fingers and toes. Judging by her fossil-photo, she would’ve been one heck of a mani-pedi client. But what links her to humans, according to the Live Science article on msn.com is a foot bone. And if she’s the reason wearing stiletto heels is a killer, she’s lucky she’s already dead.
Her gut contents included “fruits, seeds and leaves.” Nine months old and already a Volumetrics diet chick. Of course, at three feet tall, she had a lot of gut to fill.
Honestly, I’m thinking I might be a wee bit relieved God had millions of years of practice. I would hate having to shop for cute little capris and a tank top with that body.
